This page describes what data FriendFlix collects, why, and what you can do about it. It describes how the service actually works, not an intention.
Who is responsible
The service is operated by Manuel Trambert. For any question or request about your data: contact@friendflix.app.
What we collect
Your account
Email address, password (stored as a hash, never in clear text), display name, and optionally a bio, an avatar, a language and a time zone. If you sign in with Google, we keep the account identifier Google sends us — not your Google password.
What you do on the service
Your ratings, reviews, tags, your progress through the shows you follow and the episodes you mark as watched. This data is the whole point of the service: without it, there is nothing to show you.
Your connections
Connection requests sent and received, and the leagues you take part in.
Imported history
If you import a history from TV Time, the file you provide is processed to extract your shows and watched episodes.
Technical data
Account creation date and last visit date. We do not collect your location, your contacts, or the contents of your device.
Why
- To run the service: keeping your library, your progress, your connections. Without this processing there is no service, which is the contractual basis.
- To secure accounts and prevent abuse, on the basis of our legitimate interest.
- Audience measurement, only if you accept it in the banner provided. Declining is respected and takes nothing away from the service.
Who else sees this data
We do not sell any data. The service relies on the following providers, each for a specific purpose:
- Vercel — hosting for the website and the API.
- Supabase — database, hosted in the European Union (Ireland).
- Resend — sending verification and password reset emails.
- TMDB and OpenLibrary — details about films, shows and books. We ask them about titles; we do not send them your identity.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- OpenAI — the taste analysis and recommendation features send the titles you have rated along with your ratings, in order to produce suggestions. Your email address and name are not sent.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — audience measurement, enabled only after you agree.
What other users can see
Your display name, avatar, bio and taste profile are visible to the people you are connected with, and through your profile page. Your email address never is.
For how long
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When it is deleted, the data is erased, except for anything the law may require us to keep. Email verification and password reset tokens expire within minutes to hours.
Your rights
You can request access to your data, its correction, its deletion, its portability, or object to certain processing. Write to contact@friendflix.app: we answer within one month. You may also contact your national data protection authority if our answer does not satisfy you.
To delete your account, open the My account page, on the website or in the app: deletion is immediate and permanent, and takes your ratings, tracking, contacts and reviews with it. If you can no longer log in, write to us at the same address.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in and another remembers your language choice: both are necessary for the service to work. Audience measurement cookies are only set after you agree, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time.
Minors
The service is not intended for children under 15. If you become aware that an account was created by a child, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
This page may change. The date at the top indicates the latest version; a significant change will be signalled to you within the service.
